What kind of material is suitable for precision machining

July 27, 2023

In my country's precision machining, which fields are precision machining used in? Precision machining has high precision and high processing cost, and it is mainly used in civilian and military fields, such as national defense, medical equipment, aerospace and electronic products. With the continuous development of the optimization and upgrading of my country's industrial structure, the demand for precision parts processing is also increasing, so it has been highly valued; therefore, a lot of manpower, material and financial resources have been invested in this field to provide our country The development of precision machinery parts processing has cultivated talents.

As for precision machining, not all materials are suitable. Some materials are too hard, exceeding the hardness of the machined parts, and the parts may collapse. Therefore, these materials are not suitable for precision machining, unless they are parts made of special materials, or laser cutting. the

Materials for precision machining can be divided into two types: metallic materials and non-metallic materials.

For metal materials, the hardness is greater than that of stainless steel, followed by cast iron, followed by copper, and finally aluminum, while the processing of ceramics, plastics, etc. belongs to the processing of non-metallic materials. the

First, the first is the requirement for the hardness of the material. For some occasions, the higher the hardness of the material, the better. It is only limited to the hardness requirements of the machined parts, and the processed material should not be too hard. If it is harder than the machined parts, it cannot be processed.

2. Secondly, the material is moderately soft and hard, at least one grade lower than the hardness of the machine parts. At the same time, it also depends on the function of the processed device, and the reasonable selection of materials for the machine part. In short, precision machining still has some requirements for materials, and not all materials are suitable for processing. For example, for materials that are too soft or too hard, the former is not necessary to be processed, while the latter cannot be processed. the

The precision machining industry has always been a labor-intensive, capital-intensive and technology-intensive industry with high industry thresholds. Even if a general enterprise is established but does not reach a certain scale, it is difficult to generate profits, and its requirements for precision machining are extremely strict.

The process of precision parts processing has extremely strict requirements. A little carelessness during processing will cause the workpiece error to exceed the tolerance range, requiring reprocessing, or declaring the blank to be scrapped, which greatly increases the production cost. What requirements should it follow when processing precision parts?

The first is the dimensional requirements, which must be processed in strict accordance with the geometric tolerance requirements of the drawings, although the parts processed and produced by the enterprise will not be exactly the same as the dimensions of the drawings. However, the actual size is within the tolerance range of the theoretical size, and it is a qualified product and a usable part.

Secondly, in terms of equipment requirements, equipment with different performances should be used for rough and finish machining, because the rough machining process is to cut most parts of the blank. When the feed rate is large and the depth of cut is large, the workpiece will generate a large amount of internal stress, and at this time it can no longer be finished. The workpiece is finished after a certain time
